Professional attire is just bullshit people made up to put you in a box. To make you conform to their standards. Being comfortable will by far make more productive that stuffing your ass into a pencil skirt.

I did that.
I was miserable.

Dress for success….that is just fucking rediculous. Your success has nothing to do with your skinny jeans or leggins and all to do with your mindset.

When you meet with me be prepared for sweatshirts. Leggings. Giant sweaters, messy buns whatever makes me comfy for the day. People don't hire me for my fashion sense. They hired me for a cookie cutter free strategy. If you can't separate the two, maybe it's time for a reset.

I was at my kids gymnastics class on Tuesday and I

I was at my kids gymnastics class on Tuesday and I gotta say, my tiny human is an amazing individual! Watching him work through his emotions was powerful and it made me think of my own life.

You see, his day...well frankly it fucking sucked.

It was a school training day and that meant a full day at daycare. We need routine up in here, so when that gets into a jumbled mess so do the emotions. Result...sensory overload, punched a teacher, lost his sanity. Hearing all this from his teacher I was scared what the teacher was gonna say next…

Imagine my surprise when the teacher told me they created a special calm down box and fist bumped him with encouraging words for a better day tomorrow.

The evening continues and we get to gymnastics. I see him sitting there doing his best to keep his body calm, and listen to the teacher. I could sense something was off, when all of a sudden the emotional floodgates opened and he was done. The emotional overload of the day (and no nap probably didn't help) his sadness overtook him. I prepped myself for the teacher to ask me to take him home and try again next week.

Instead, she scooped him up, gave him a big hug and gave him some space and flexibility to work through his emotions. After some time, he took part in bits and pieces of his lesson. He would occasionally take a moment for himself and then try to rejoin the group.

So why am I telling this long long story. Because when we have a support system to help us through the rough days, we won't give up on ourselves. We have the strength to be compassionate with ourselves.

My tiny human learned today that he has people around him who believe in him. He learned that being compassionate with ourselves and giving ourselves space to feel means we can do amazing things. Today I learned that too!

Why do we put ourselves in boxes and then wonder why we feel caged in? No really!

What is it about human that we torture ourselves to try and become something we are not?

This week on social I have read post after post from big names and not so big names that made me cringe and climb on this soapbox *gestures to soapbox*.

🤮 Fake it till you make it.
😵 Dress for success.
😰 Be fearless.
😳 Hustle or die.

But here's the problem with this kind of mentality…

When what we believe doesn't fit into those influencer's perceptions of what those things mean...well that's like saying we aren't worthy as we are.

Don't believe them!

Break the mold. Trust your intuition. Build something innovative and new!
